Phases of Renaissance Architectural Style

In this custom essay paper, the phases of the Renaissance architectural style are discussed. Chronologically, the Renaissance architectural era is sandwiched between two other architectural eras, namely, the Gothic and Baroque eras. This college essay papers work divides the Renaissance architectural period into three sub-periods, namely, Quattrocento (early renaissance), High Renaissance and Mannerism.
During the Quattrocentro sub-period, the Renaissance architectural style got its formal definition as rules were formulated to distinguish it from previous architectural styles e.g. gothic and Romanesque. Fillipo Bruneleschi is one of the renowned Renaissance architectures of this period and his work the Basilica di San Lorenzo in Florence, Italy shown in   is one of the Renaissance buildings representative of this time.  
During the High Renaissance sub-period, the Renaissance architectural style, which was now established, was blended to a much greater degree with classical antiquity concepts, which were derived from the Greco-Roman culture. Bramante is one of the renowned Renaissance architectures of this period and his work the San Pietro in Montorio in Rome, Italy shown in   below is representative of this time.
     During the Mannerist sub-period, the renaissance architectural style was being experimented with contemporary architectural forms of the time. This period is the linkage between the renaissance architectural style and the Baroque architectural style. One architect who particularly felt the need to experiment the renaissance style with these new forms is Michelangelo and is work the St. Peters Basilica is representative of this period.
